Barbara Holguin is the owner and creator of the vision that has now become the Discovery Alcohol & Drug Education Program. With 10+ years in the probation/parole world and extensive criminal court experience, she wanted to create a platform for like-minded professionals, educators, and counselors to come together and make a place where recovery could live. Since leaving the courts in 2016, she has been building Discovery into what it has become now.

Yolanda Reyes recently graduated with her mental health/substance abuse degree from San Jacinto College. She hails from El Paso/Juarez, Mexico, and has 2 adult children. Yolanda enjoys working with children as well as with people with Substance Abuse issues. Yolanda completed her practicum internship with Discovery, LLC in the spring of 2022. She was invited to maintain her status as a part-time staff member, teaching education classes and counseling.

Melinda began her education in substance abuse treatment 11 years ago. She specializes in working with the Spanish-speaking community, which she feels is her passion. Her focus is also on working with clients that the county and state mandate. Melinda also enjoys spending time with her 16-year-old son, 23-year-old daughter, and husband of 22 years. She has been an Alvin native for 16 years.

​James Luber received his undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond and his Mental Health/Substance Abuse degree from San Jacinto College. He is a recent transplant to Houston and enjoys playing tennis and cooking. James is also a Clinical Compliance Auditor for a Houston-based treatment provider and a San Jacinto Mental Health Services Advisory Committee member. James works with the Supportive Outpatient program for Discovery DWI.

Andrea Henderson received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and has worked in Probation since 1994. She has extensive experience in working with clients in Felony Substance Abuse Facilities along with clients on Probation for DWI Offenses. Andrea has almost ten years of experience working with Criminal Courts and clients on Bond Supervision. She became certified as a DWI Education Instructor in 2006 and is passionate about helping DWI students understand the importance of applying what is learned in the class to save lives and eliminate DWI behavior.

Santa Rosa Newman is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern (LCDC-I) and a certified Thinking for a Change (T4C) facilitator, dedicated to supporting individuals on their journey to recovery. With four years of experience working with people in recovery and six months of clinical practice, she currently serves as an intake and assessment clinician overseeing both Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Supportive Outpatient (SOP) programs. Bilingual and trauma-informed, Santa Rosa specializes in social skills training, substance use education, and behavioral change work. She brings compassion and structure to every session, helping clients build healthier lives through evidence-based tools and culturally responsive care.

Courtney Dickerson received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of
Houston-Downtown and a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy and Counseling from
Prairie View A&M University. She has extensive experience with working with clients in the
probation and mental health industry for 20 years. She is a master level clinician. She is a certified
instructor in Thinking for a Change and Cognitive Behavior Intervention classes. She is passionate
about helping clients understand and challenge their cognitive thinking by changing the way one
thinks.

Khadija Durrani holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Houston–Clear Lake and brings over six years of experience in office operations. Her background combines a strong understanding of human behavior with a practical skill set in organizational management. Passionate about making a meaningful impact, Khadija plans to pursue a Master’s in Social Work, with the goal of supporting individuals and communities through compassionate, evidence-based care.

Sherry Gould is our staff LPC. She works primarily with adults in a counseling setting with a focus on trauma and PTSD. Mrs. Gould is a previous school counselor and provides a variety of skills our team. She enjoys her chickens and traveling with husband in her spare time.
